The seed on the thorns

Praise God as a servant of God, I have a trifold mandate. Number one is to pray and drive out demons, heal the sick, and preach the life giving, life saving gospel of Jesus Christ. If you have any of these needs, please reach out.

Today we talk about the seed. Scripture reading comes from the book of Luke, chapter eight, verse 14, and it says, “now the ones fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.” Hallelujah! We're talking about the seed, which is the life giving gospel of Christ. This is a parable that Christ was telling people around him about people who receive the Word of God. So men and women of God go and tell people about Christ and the redemption story, and that they should place their faith in Jesus Christ. And for some, as you read, the rest of the chapter, i will not go through it right now. For some it they represent thorns, meaning you know what thorns do? They choke up the good fruit and the good fruit in this instance is the gospel. So you hear the gospel and then you let life matters worry you.

So Jehovah is asking you, what is keeping you away from bearing fruit? What is keeping you away from pursuing the ways that will last forever? Which are the ways of the Lord. What is keeping you away from communion? From fellowship with others? From going to church? From sitting up in the middle of the night to pray, to talk to God. Is it issues at home with your husband or wife? Is it because of your children's behaviour? Is it because you lack resources? Maybe you don't have adequate food, clothing and shelter. Maybe you don't have school fees for your children. Is it your health situation? Maybe you're not very healthy. Or is it other things like the pleasures of this world? Do you feel like being with God is very boring? Asks the Lord. Do you feel like the things of the world are just fun? But the things of God are just not worth your time?

Think again. Because the devil is a deceiver. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus came that you may have life and have it abundantly, and he can change your mindset to make you worry about things of this world. And that means you are chasing after your own tail, that you'll never be satisfied with the things of this world. Even if you get everything that you ever wanted, you'll still not be satisfied. Unfortunately, if you've allowed the enemy to choke up your salvation with the things of this world, then you should repent. You should tell God, "help me see things differently, change my mindset, renew my mind".

And and you ask yourself, what fruit is this scripture talking about? It's the fruit of the Holy Spirit. You see, when you accept Christ as Lord and Saviour, you get baptised with water and you get the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Galatians five 22 - 23 speaks about these fruits, fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Hallelujah!

So I tell you, examine your life and let me examine mine, I'm I bearing fruit. If you go to the next verse, a few verses after what we've just read in Galatians five, it speaks about the fruits of the flesh. So let's see where we are. You need to bear fruit, otherwise Jesus doesn't know you. When he comes to take up his church, he'll not recognise you because you did not bear fruit because of the things of this world. And l tell you folks, it's never worth it - the war & the dramas of this world; and when you breathe your last, it will never matter in the grand scheme of things. Eternity - where time never stops. You won't worry about what you didn't eat that day or who annoyed you on the other one. So just worry about the things of the Kingdom, and God will take care of the things of this world for you, even as you cooperate with him. The Lord bless you.
